Risk of Scattered Thunderstorms

The weather, currently.

Another chance of some rain showers as we track a weak front into the region. So far this month we have seen just over 42mm of rain, needless to say well below the monthly norm. There will be some rain showers and possible thunderstorms overnight tonight into the very early morning hours of Thursday. The wake up temperature will be near 21°C. A mix of sun and cloud overall for the day, but still a lingering chance of scattered thunderstorms. Much of the day will be dry though and overall a fair day for some outdoor activity. The high will be 27°C. It will be breezy at times and the UV index will be 9 or very high.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy with a low of 19°C.

What you need to know, currently.

We have a new story up today from Anna Abraham on the efforts of the Chilean people to reclaim the country’s water supply from the extractive industries and other private enterprises.

“Climate change plays a significant role in the matter,” writes Abraham. “But so does the country’s free-market water policy, which inadvertently prioritizes the needs of extractive industries over a community’s right to access water.”

“They stole everything from us, they even took away our dignity,” Zoila Quiroz, a local resident from Petorca, Chile told EFE, “There was a time when we had to choose whether to take a shower or wash our clothes. We had no choice but to fight.”
