Variable skies and finally a little cooler

The weather, currently.

Although it has been an active day in parts of southern Ontario, it will be a calm and refreshing start to the last week of July. After almost a week of 30°C+ days, a slightly cooler and less humid airmass will move in. Expect mainly sunny skies for Monday morning with a temperature of around 19°C. A NW breeze behind a passing cold front, will help sweep out the humidity and establish a much more comfortable weather pattern. We will see variable skies overall, with a high of 25°C. The UV index will be 6 or high.

Monday night: mainly clear with a low of 15°C.

What you need to know, currently.

The California wildfire, now called the Oak Fire, continues to smolder for a third day right outside Yosemite National Park.

The fire has burned more than 14,000 acres and led to the forced evacuations of thousands of people. It began Friday in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.

The Oak Fire is just another symptom of the extreme heat wave that has been blanketing the U.S., with many parts of California blazing in triple–digit temperatures. As the nation bakes due to human-induced climate change, drought conditions worsen and wildfires become more frequent.

Here is a GoFundMe that we can donate to in the meantime: Family home burnt to the ground in the Oak Fire.
